Harvest Mass

Harvest Mass

Our annual Harvest Mass will be celebrated on Sunday 16th February at 8.30am.

GATHERING TO CELEBRATE AND GIVE THANKS FOR THE HARVEST

A parish gathering to celebrate and give thanks for the harvest will be held Sunday 16th February. In Jesus’ day, the Jewish people celebrated the “Feast of Ingathering” or the “Feast of Tabernacles”. Everyone shared from their harvest, and goods were collected for the poor. St Augustine’s Parish will again celebrate the harvest with the same sense of joy and sharing. We invite all farmers, crops growers, orchardists, winegrowers, home gardeners and cooks, to bring from their produce on that day – for the produce swapping table. Let us also share abundance with those in need; we encourage people to bring a non-perishable item in a can, jar or packet, of something produced in our area. On the day, donors can bring these items to the altar in the entry procession for the St Vincent DePaul Society baskets. We also ask people to bring a plate to share following Mass.

Decommissioning of St Sebastian's Church Merrigum

Decommissioning of St Sebastian's Church Merrigum

It was with sadness that St Sebastian’s Merrigum was decommissioned. We remember all past priests and parishioners who have worshipped and supported St Sebastian’s for 122 years.

Thank you to Bishop Shane who presided at the closing ceremony and Fr Michael Morley and Fr Uday Marneni for concelebrating. Also thank you to Ryerson, Mason and Graeme for helping.

A celebration gathering with lunch provided was provided after Mass at the Merrigum Bowling Club, Morrissey Street, Merrigum.

May St Sebastian pray for us.  After 122 years of service, St Sebastian’s Church in Merrigum has now closed its doors.
